Kari
will be one of many thoughtful and exciting performers who will
honor a revolutionary woman who has contributed to their own revolutionary
nature.
"Warriors
of the Revolution. My grandmother wouldn't describe herself this
way...I see how it fits though..."
This
multimedia performance honors Myrtle Engen, my maternal grandmother,
and how she inspired me to be the revolutionary woman I am today.
Her
words and the example of her life taught me to be independent in
thought and community oriented in action. She modeled non-judgement
and unconditional love. These are the conditions for true revolution
especially in these times. This is a particularly important work
for me to do right now. I am full of emotion and joy at the opportunity
to create a performance art piece to honor my Grandmother.
This
performance features my 1992 music video "Tracks on the Land".
The working title of this song was, "Junkie Farmer tries to
forget," and asks us to look at the buying and selling of Earth
and women, the addiction of the soil to the petroleum based fertilizers
and insecticides and the addicting of women to crack and meth and
other nasty substances. This video shows my Grandmother, a strong
and independent crone living on her lush green farm in contrast
to other options of living.

July
17 - St.
Lukes in Minnetonka. Kari will perform original Celtic inspired
music for their Celtic Sunday Service. Brigid's Song will begin
the service. A happy jigging air asking for all to come play in
St. Brigit's way. We honor the Goddess of the tripple fire and the
Sainted woman who prayed for "a lake of beer for the King of
kings." The "Benbecula Weaving Song" will help tie
in all of nature's elements with the unity of unconditional love
into a kilt pattern we may all wear. "I am honored to share
my music with this congregation of hard working peace makers."
