Nisswastämman Music and Dance Festival
June 8 - June 9
This could be the largest gathering of Scandinavian and Scandinavian American Folk Musicians and Dancers in the United States. Now in its 19th year, Nisswastämman brings musicians and dancers together from all over Minnesota, the United States, and the “homelands” of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.
Kari will again bring her story telling and song circles to the children’s tent and along with Carol Sersland, teaching song dance in the dance barn!
Nisswa-stämman Scandinavian Folk Music Festival, June 8 & 9, 2018, features 150 folk musicians performing on 3 stages, day-long dancing opportunities on two dance floors, dance instruction, a cultural children’s activity tent, and great Scandinavian food…all under the shade of the majestic Norway pines of the Nisswa Pioneer Village in Nisswa, Minnesota. We are going into the 19th year of the festival, and yet another special line up of award winning musicians from Scandinavia is headlining. They include: Harald Haugaard, Helene Blum & Antti Järvelä – master musicians from Denmark and Finland on fiddles, guitar and voice; Trio Larsson – talented musicians from Sweden on fiddle, guitar, nyckelharpa/accordion and voice; Elvings Spelmanskapell – ensemble from Falun, Sweden featuring fiddles, accordion and string bass; Kristoffer & Maria – great music from Norway on fiddle and accordion.
