Nordic Roots at Norway House – November

November 25 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

$20

November 25th – Thanksgiving and Gifting in Norse tradition

The rune Jera is harvest and also a name of the Earth goddess who was the mother of Thor. Gifu is the rune of reciprocity and balance in relationships. These are the keys to agriculturally based ancestor ways. It is also important to understand that as immigrants and settlers to this land, our thanks to indigenous peoples must, necessarily, run deep and gain expression. In Old Norse, this is called shild. Let’s explore this together!

Kari will tell stories and share knowledge of the key seasonal events in our ancestor’s lives. Join Kari at Norway House where you will sit together, hear stories, ask questions, and learn about how these rituals and seasonal activities can enrich our lives.
